Albany County Executive officials said the Capital Region Transportation Council and Albany County are inviting the public to visit the project website for the Albany County Airport Area Trail Connector Study.

The officials said the website includes information about the project, previous planning recommendations, an interactive web map, a public survey, and details on how to stay involved. Community members are encouraged to use the interactive map and complete the survey to provide feedback.

Officials said the study area includes the immediate Albany International Airport area west to Sand Creek Road and north to the Mohawk/Hudson Bike-Hike Trail and the Empire State Trail.

The study is described as aiming to connect multi-use trails along Albany Shaker Road and Watervliet Shaker Road to the Empire State Trail along the Mohawk River. The connections would consider users of all ages and abilities and are intended to create safe pathways for non-vehicular transportation.
